Thala Gray Honed Arabesque Limestone Waterjet Decos 8x11 Description

Thala Gray is recorded as a green limestone, and this waterjet deco is the honed arabesque version of it at 8x11, cut so the interlocking curves come out clean. Six pieces to a box, 1.83 square feet, each piece covering 0.31.

Curves in a soft stone

Limestone is softer than marble and carries less contrast, which suits a shape that wants attention on its outline. Waterjet cutting is what makes the interlocking curve possible at all, since a blade cannot follow it. Honing leaves the surface matte, and at 3/8 inch the pieces are thin enough to handle easily. Limestone tiles in this colour group carry the same quiet character.

  • Outline leads A low contrast stone keeps attention on the arabesque shape.
  • Cut by waterjet The interlocking curve is beyond what a straight blade can do.

Kitchen

Kitchen is the room recorded against this piece. Coverage is 1.83 square feet a box, so 60 square feet would take 38 boxes, which places it as a panel or a feature rather than a surface to spread widely. Interlocking shapes also need their perimeter drawn before setting, because a cut curve at an edge shows more than a cut square would.

  • Thirty eight boxes Low coverage per box, so large areas add up quickly.
  • Draw the edges Decide where cut pieces land before any adhesive goes on.

Why we chose it

  • Shape over figure A quiet stone lets the outline carry the surface.
  • Clean curves Waterjet work gives an edge that meets its neighbour precisely.
  • Panel scale The economics suit a feature area rather than a whole room.

Care

Being porous, this stone takes a penetrating sealer after installation and again every one to two years. Acids etch it quickly, which rules out vinegar and citrus based cleaners; a pH neutral stone product is the right choice.
