Essence Montauk White is a 12x12 slate look porcelain Mosaic A. Essence keeps the cleft texture of slate and drops the flaking that comes with the real stone.
Slate is split rather than sawn, so its face has a shallow cleft texture, and that texture is pressed into this tile. Mesh backing holds the layout in the A cut, which is what makes a mosaic practical on a shower floor or a backsplash.
The body is 9 mm and the edges are rectified, so it lays with a tight grout joint. The surface is matte. One box covers 4.84 sq ft, 5 pieces.
