Essence Mariposa Slate is a 12x12 slate look porcelain Mosaic H. Essence keeps the cleft texture of slate and drops the flaking that comes with the real stone.

Slate is split rather than sawn, so its face has a shallow cleft texture, and that texture is pressed into this tile. The pieces come mesh mounted in the H pattern, so the spacing stays even and a sheet can be cut to follow a fall to the drain.

The body is 9 mm and the edges are rectified, so it lays with a tight grout joint. The surface is matte. It is sold by the box, 4.84 sq ft per box and 5 pieces in it.
